Q: Now that Spark + AI Summit is virtual, is it the same date?
A: Yes, but we are adding an extra day! Spark + AI Summit will now be from June 22-26, 2020. June 22-23 will be our pre-conference paid training and June 23-26 will be keynotes, breakout sessions, limited free training. Check back to see the updated agenda soon!

Q: Will I receive a refund if I have already purchased a conference pass?
A: All paid conference passes will be refunded to the original form of payment. We will issue a full refund for the pass or group package you purchased at the time of registration. A confirmation email and refund receipt will be emailed to you when we have completed the refund. Refunds take 5 to 7 business days to post to your credit card. If you have not received a refund email by April 30, 2020, please contact registration@spark-summit.org.

Q: Even though I received a refund for my registration, can I still attend the virtual summit?
A: Yes, all registered attendees will automatically be switched to a virtual pass.

Q: I used a promo code for my conference pass, how does my registration change?
A: All registrations that used a promo code have been refunded the amount paid and switched to a virtual pass.

Q: What is included in a free general conference pass vs. VIP pass?
A: The free general conference pass will include access to all of the keynotes, breakout sessions and networking at our virtual conference. The VIP pass will have all general pass access plus exclusive perks like AMA (Ask Me Anything) sessions, 1:1 access to committers and more.

Q: I registered for pre-conference training, are you providing refunds?
A: The cost of training has been lowered! All attendees that registered for pre-conference training are still registered for training and will receive a refund for the difference. New pricing: $200/half day training, $400/full day training.

Q: How will training change from an in-person experience to a virtual experience?
A: The only change is that you are taking training from the comfort of your own home. It will still be a fully live training experience, with access to TAs and the instructor during the class. There are two courses that have changed to be split into two half-days:
MLflow and Model Deployment:
  • MLflow: Managing the Machine Learning Lifecycle (AM ONLY)
  • ML Deployment (PM ONLY)
Reinforcement Learning:
  • Introduction to Reinforcement Learning
  • Model-Free Reinforcement Learning

Q: What about travel costs like hotels and flights?
A: For your hotel reservations, whether you made them with the hotel directly or from our website, you will have to contact the hotel directly to cancel. The same for your flight, you will need to contact the airline directly for their cancelation/refund policy.

Q: I am a confirmed speaker for the event, what should I do now?
A: An updated agreement has been sent to all speakers. All speakers have been registered with a VIP Virtual pass. Please contact toby@spark-summit.org with any questions.

Q: I am a current sponsor for the event and still want to participate in the virtual event, what should I do now?

Q: What is the refund policy for the VIP Pass?
A: You can receive a full refund for your VIP pass if requested before June 8, 2020. Any refund requests after June 8 will be subject to a refund minus 10% processing fee.

Q: I have been switched to a Virtual Pass and would like to upgrade to the VIP Pass. How can I do this?
A: You may upgrade to Virtual VIP by logging into the registration and paying the additional fee of $99. The login information is found in the cancellation/virtual registration confirmation. If you have any questions, please contact registration@spark-summit.org.

Q: Will I receive more information about how to navigate the Virtual Summit (ie: how to find a session talk) before the event?
A: We will be sending out a series of emails and blog posts that will help you make the most of your virtual experience.

Q: What if I miss a session I wanted to attend, will virtual sessions be available after the event?
A: Yes, sessions will be available on demand on our virtual platform and other channels.

Q: What if I do not want to attend the Virtual Summit? Can I cancel my registration completely?
A: Yes, you can cancel your registration completely. If you wish to do so, please contact registration@spark-summit.org.

Q: I would like to add training to my registration or purchase additional training. How do I do this?
A: Please into your account The login information is found on the confirmation that you received when you registered. Under Primary Registrant is Ticket Type/Training. Next to it is EDIT. Please click that. You can then go through and pick the training that you want to attend. Once you have picked your training, please make the payment. Q: I see that Day 1 of is Eastern Standard Time, what time zone is the rest of the conference?
A: June 22 is Eastern Standard Time. June 23-25 is Pacific Standard Time.

Q: Training sessions that were originally full day, have they been switched to half day? If so, which training sessions?

Q: What are the differences between full day training and half day training?
A: The two full day sessions were created to provide students with a learning path for those who want full day learning experiences. The learning paths will consist of two half day sessions.

Q: What is the difference between the morning and afternoon sessions? Is there a prerequisite?
A: There is no difference between the morning and afternoon sessions. All prerequisites for training can be found here.

Q: What is the difference between free training and paid training?
A: The free training will be a follow along pre-recorded session with live chat for Q&A. The paid training sessions will be hands-on, instructor led with deep support from Teachers Assistants - In-house Databricks subject matter experts.

Q: I purchased a voucher for the Databricks Certified Associate Developer for Apache Spark 2.4 certification exam when I registered for Summit. How do I take the exam?
A: At the conclusion of Summit, you will receive a voucher code (valid through April 30, 2021) for the exam. Upon receipt, go here and click on the Register button to schedule your exam.

Q: What is the difference in What's New in Apache Spark 3.0 being offered on June 22 and June 23?
A: There is no difference between the sessions. It is being offered multiple times so more people can attend.
