Yitao is the current maintainer of sparklyr, an R interface for Apache Spark™. He is also the author and maintainer of several sparklyr extensions such as sparklyr.flint and sparklyr.sedona.

Yitao became interested in data science while pursuing graduate studies at the University of Washington (UW). He gained practical data science experience while working on his master’s thesis at UW and while interning at Microsoft Research. Yitao has previously worked for eBay, Facebook and RStudio.
