About Ben Lorica

Ben Lorica is the Chief Data Scientist of Databricks. Prior to that, Ben was the Chief Data Scientist of O’Reilly Media, Inc. and Program Chair of several large conferences: Strata Data, O’Reilly AI, and TensorFlow World. He has applied Business Intelligence, Data Mining, Machine Learning and Statistical Analysis in a variety of settings including Direct Marketing, Consumer and Market Research, Targeted Advertising, Text Mining, and Financial Engineering. His background includes stints with an investment management company, internet startups, and financial services.

About Kurt Brown

Kurt leads the Data Platform team at Netflix. His group architects and manages the data infrastructure underpinning the company's analytics. The Netflix data platform includes various Big Data technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, and Presto), Netflix open sourced applications and services (e.g. Lipstick and Genie), and traditional BI tools (e.g. Teradata and Tableau).
