Communicating information to each other is at the heart of the human experience. Data, and the analysis of it, often drives this communication in a business setting. This session aims to give you an understanding of how advances in Artificial Intelligence, specifically Natural Language Interaction (NLI), Natural Language Generation coupled with Deep Learning can create new and exciting opportunities for building analytical based chatbots.
We will talk about how to design and train an NLI system that map requests to deep learning pipelines to derive insights. You will also learn how to apply NLG templates to help facilitate improved understanding and interaction with the chat-bot.

Wayne Thompson is the Chief Data Scientist at SAS. He is one of the early pioneers of business predictive analytics, and he is a globally recognized presenter, teacher, practitioner, and innovator in the field of predictive analytics technology. He has worked alongside the world's biggest and most challenging companies to help them harness analytics to build high-performing organizations. Over the course of his 20-year career at SAS, he has been credited with bringing to market landmark SAS analytic technologies/ His current focus initiatives include easy-to-use, self-service data mining tools for business analysts, deep learning and cognitive computing. Wayne received his PhD and MS degrees from the University of Tennessee. During his PhD program, he was also a visiting scientist at the Institut Superieur d'Agriculture de Lille, Lille, France.
Ben Tomlinson is a Principal Software Developer in SAS Business Intelligence R&D working on both user interfaces and mid-tier services. Ben received a Master’s in Computer Science from North Carolina State University and has been a SAS employee for 14 years. Past projects have included SAS Management Console, SAS Drug Development and SAS Visual Statistics. Currently Ben is a lead developer on a project focused on integrating natural language understanding and natural language generation to provide easier access to data and analytics.
