Creating a Data and GenAI Ecosystem: Migrating to Databricks

In the new world of countless advanced analytics and GenAI applications, having the right ecosystem for your needs and those of your customers and partners is imperative for business survival. At Gerdau, one of the largest steel manufacturers in the world, we began our Data and Analytics journey in 2018 by creating our data lake. Since then, several cases, solutions, and capabilities have been created. However, in 2021, we sought ways to evolve our architecture to guarantee greater flexibility, simplification, governance, and performance for the business while maintaining cost competitiveness. By migrating contents to Databricks, we could achieve a 30% cost reduction in data processing, reduce 15 tools in our architecture, and save almost 400k USD in governance and data sharing solutions already built on the platform. In this session, we'll show how we enable this new Data and GenAI ecosystem and create a reference for the Steel Industry.
