Going all in on the cloud was part of Capital One’s multi-year tech transformation. We knew we needed to rethink every capability in our data ecosystem to leverage data at scale effectively. Join us as we discuss Capital One’s approach to building enterprise data platforms for our modern data ecosystem, which enables our 13,000+ technologists and associates across businesses to produce and consume data in a self-service fashion. We’ll share how our “you build, your data” (YBYD) strategy helps us innovate using data at our own pace. You will also learn best practices and considerations as you build your own data platforms. Our stack has three layers: a real-time publishing and streaming platform, a cloud-based lake, and a consumption layer. We’ll share how we enable the consumption layer by leveraging open table formats (Delta Lake, Iceberg) and how we have a common set of metadata contracts that allow our producers to make data available via self-service.
