DBUs are a measure of the processing power used to run your workload. Databricks manages the underlying infrastructure and uses real-time intelligence about your workload to determine how to efficiently scale resources to meet its needs. The best way to estimate serverless DBUs is to run a few representative workloads on serverless and measure the resultant DBUs.

Serverless DBUs are a measure of the amount of processing power used to run your workload. Photon is automatically enabled in serverless and typically accelerates your workloads. The DBU rate (DBU/hr) for a workload on serverless appropriately reflects the processing power of Photon and is comparable to the DBU rate of a classic Photonized cluster. For most workloads, the total DBUs consumed will roughly remain the same when compared to running the workload on classic clusters.

Enzyme is a capability of DLT Serverless that enables incremental refresh of DLT pipelines. It reduces the need for a full refresh of your Materialized View thus saving compute costs.

Yes, customers will be charged for data transfer costs associated with their Serverless workloads. Currently, Serverless Networking is in preview and is offered for free. However, we reserve the right to charge for networking-related costs in cases of excessive usage.

Databricks has discontinued the Standard tier for new customers on AWS and Google Cloud. Any existing customer that remains on the Standard tier on AWS and Google Cloud will be automatically upgraded to the premium tier on Oct 1, 2025. For existing customers, the Standard tier prices on AWS and Google Cloud are outlined below:

• DLT Core / DLT Core Photon: $0.20/DBU
• DLT Pro / DLT Pro Photon: $0.25/DBU
• DLT Advanced / DLT Advanced Photon: $0.36/DBU

Delta Live Tables performs maintenance tasks within 24 hours of a table being updated. Please refer to the product documentation for the types of maintenance tasks performed by DLT. Customers are charged for the compute used to run these maintenance tasks. In DLT Classic, the maintenance tasks consume Jobs Compute DBUs. In Serverless DLT, the maintenance tasks consume Automated Serverless Compute DBUs (Azure) OR Jobs Serverless Compute DBUs (AWS and GCP)
