Sr. Resident Solutions Architect (Migration Specialist)

As a Migration Specialist within our Professional Services team in Singapore, you will be a trusted advisor focusing on helping customers successfully migrate from legacy data platforms to Databricks. This specialized Senior Resident Solutions Architect (Sr. RSA) role balances pre-sales engagements, enablement activities, and migration delivery work. You'll guide organizations through our proven migration methodology, from discovery and assessment to strategy development and execution, while sharing your expertise with the broader team to scale our migration capabilities.
 
The impact you will have:
  • Lead migration assessments and discovery sessions, utilizing automated analyzers to evaluate legacy workloads and estimate effort, cost, and ROI
  • Develop comprehensive migration strategies and roadmaps, including data migration approaches, ETL code conversion, and architectural blueprints
  • Consult on architecture and design, guiding strategic customers through transformational big data migrations from legacy platforms
  • Drive successful production pilot implementations that demonstrate the value of Databricks for customer use cases
  • Enable the broader PS team by developing best practices, methodology improvements, and reusable assets for migrations
  • Partner with Account Executives and Sales Engineers to support complex migration opportunities in pre-sales engagements
  • Share your migration expertise through knowledge transfer sessions, documentation, and mentoring junior team members
  • Work with Engineering and Databricks Customer Support to provide product feedback and guide resolution for migration-specific issues
What we look for:
  • 10+ years of hands-on technical experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or analytics
  • Proven experience migrating workloads from traditional data warehouses (Teradata, Oracle, Netezza, etc.) or other platforms to modern cloud-based solutions
  • Strong understanding of ETL/ELT design patterns and data pipeline architectures
  • Expertise with Databricks platform features including Delta Lake, Databricks SQL, and Unity Catalog
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their respective data services
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language such as Python, Scala, or Java
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Strong consulting skills and ability to build trusted relationships with customers
  • Experience in the APJ market, particularly Singapore, is highly desirable
  • Background in pre-sales or customer-facing technical roles is a plus
  • This role will involve approximately 50% billable client work, with the remainder dedicated to pre-sales activities and team enablement. Regional travel within APJ may be required.
