Where can I see instructor-led training courses currently offered by the Databricks Academy?

You can view all of our instructor-led training classes on this page and the schedule is linked here.

What platform(s) do you use for training delivery? What do I need to test in advance?

Zoom is our chosen online platform to deliver classes. Ensure you can access Zoom by clicking here. If your organization has purchased private training, we can work with you on an alternate solution, such as Microsoft Teams.

Some classes may also leverage Slack for classroom communication. Please test Slack by clicking here. If you are having difficulty connecting to Slack, try disconnecting from your VPN.

If your company laptop has any firewall restrictions, we recommend that you bring a personal laptop for the training.

What is public vs. private instructor-led delivery?

Databricks instructor-led training is available to everyone, for a fee.

For public training, the schedule is preset and people from many organizations will be in attendance. It is ideal if your company has only a couple of attendees who are interested in enrolling in the class.

Private training is available for groups (for example, within an organization) who want a more personalized training experience and control over the schedule and delivery of the course. We do not create new custom training content for public or private classes, but for private deliveries, we can do a custom combination of existing courseware.

Do you provide onsite/in-person training?

For private training classes, we are open to traveling onsite, subject to COVID-19 policies. All public training courses are delivered virtually.

Will the training be recorded? Can I record the training?

Unfortunately, we do not permit the recording of any of our instructor-led training classes, whether for internal purposes or on behalf of our customers.

Our prohibition on recordings helps protect the privacy of our instructors and students taking our courses. We have also found that recording the training session can result in less effective teaching experiences as students are less likely to ask candid questions and are less willing to engage with course material.

If you would like to access recorded training materials, many of our training materials are pre-recorded and available as free self-paced content if you login to Databricks Academy.

Do I need access to a Databricks workspace?

Databricks will provide an enterprise Databricks workspace to be used throughout the training. This way, the DBU and VM costs are included in the cost of training, and ensures all students have the necessary level of permissions. You will be given the credentials to login on the first day of your class. This Databricks workspace will expire shortly after the end of the course.

Can I split my training over multiple sessions (e.g. Monday of one session, Tuesday-Thursday of another session)?

To limit class disruption, we do not permit students to mix and match attendance of classes.

Can I export the course material and access it later on my own time?

Yes, you will be able to export the course material and import them into your own Databricks workspace for reference later. If you do not have your own Databricks workspace, you can sign up for a free Databricks Community Edition account (note: not all features are enabled on Community Edition).

Will I receive a certificate after the class?

Yes, you will receive a certificate of completion. However, to receive a badge, you will need to take and pass a proctored certification assessment.

How can I connect to fellow Databricks users and ask questions?

Please join our Databricks Community!

What’s your cancellation and refund policy?

Databricks will confirm to run or cancel a class two weeks or 14 days prior to the start date of class. Up to two weeks prior to class, the Learner reserves the right to cancel their registration with a full refund or reschedule to a later date. If there are less than two weeks prior to the start of class, a cancellation is not permitted but you can send a substitute in your place. Please submit your request here. All requests will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

No refunds or transfers if attendees do not cancel or do not attend the class. With our Learning Management System, if you unenroll from a session, you are still registered for the course. To receive a refund, you will need to unenroll from the course as well.

Databricks reserves the right to cancel or change a class at any time, including but not limited to, lack of participation, classroom or instructor availability. If a class is canceled, Learners will be notified by email. The Learner will be given a choice of a refund or class transfer. The Learner will be automatically transferred to the next class if no response is received within two (2) business days of the notification.

Does Databricks offer instructor-led training in other languages?

Yes! You can see which upcoming public classes are offered in other languages (will indicate language if non-English). You can also request this for a private delivery, and we will see if we have the resources to accommodate.

NOTE: Our curriculum is not translated. While the instructor will teach in that language, the courseware (notebooks and slides) is still in English.

If I have a learning subscription or success credits, how can I register for training?

If your company has purchased success credits or has a learning subscription, please fill out the public training requests form.
