SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 9, 2015) - Databricks, the company founded by the creators of the popular open-source big data processing engine Apache Spark with its flagship product, Databricks Cloud, today announced it is now an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Advanced Technology Partner, validating the value of its data platform for joint customers.

Databricks Cloud is an end-to-end data platform hosted entirely on AWS and powered by Spark, the most active open source project in the big data ecosystem built for speed, ease of use, and sophisticated analytics. Spark has gained industry-wide momentum with over 200 enterprise deployments in production today, a growing partner ecosystem, and widespread adoption by a number of platform vendors, including all major Hadoop distributors.

The AWS Partner Network (APN) is a global partner program, focused on helping partners build a successful AWS-based business by providing technical, marketing, and go-to-market support. As an APN Advanced Technology Partner, Databricks has access to a variety of tools, training, and support to further enhance the company's data platform.

"Capturing value from big data requires capabilities beyond data processing and companies of all shapes and sizes are finding out that many opportunities still lay untapped in their journey to operationalize their data pipeline," said Kavitha Mariappan, vice president of marketing at Databricks. "Recognition as an Advanced Technology Partner is a key milestone in our relationship with AWS that validates our end-to-end Databricks Cloud platform by delivering unparalleled flexibility, scalability and cost-effectiveness through the AWS Cloud."

"Databricks Cloud unifies our Spark and AWS infrastructures much faster and cheaper than we could ever have accomplished without their support. It gives us near real-time analytics at scale with tools our entire staff can easily use," said Rob Ferguson, director of engineering at Automatic Labs. "With this level of insight into our data we can develop new products faster than ever before."

Databricks will be showcasing its leading data platform at the AWS Summit 2015 in San Francisco today.
