Databricks Strengthens Presence in Latin America, Appointing Marcos Grilanda as Vice President and General Manager

Former AWS executive brings decades of experience leading and scaling operations across LATAM growth markets

São Paulo, Brazil, March 25, 2024 - Databricks, the Data and AI company, today announced the appointment of Marcos Grilanda as Vice President and General Manager for Latin America. Grilanda brings 20 years of enterprise technology and regional leadership experience to the role and recently relocated to São Paulo, Brazil. He is responsible for leading the company’s growth throughout Latin America (LATAM) and driving Databricks adoption for businesses across a range of industries, including financial services, manufacturing, and retail. 

Prior to joining Databricks, Grilanda was the Managing Director of Latin America for Amazon Web Services (AWS) where he spent nearly a decade building and managing the high-growth business and scaling operations across LATAM. Previously, he held leadership roles at Oracle and Emerson Network Power.

Databricks has expanded its footprint in LATAM with recently opened offices in São Paulo, Brazil and San José, Costa Rica. The Databricks team in the region more than tripled over the past year, growing to over 150 people. The company continues to actively hire for a variety of technical, customer-facing and operations roles to support regional growth.
