Announcing the Winners of the Generative AI World Cup

We are thrilled to announce the winners of the Generative AI World Cup! This event brought together over 1500 data scientists and AI engineers from over 18 countries. The competition showcased innovative generative AI solutions for solving real-world challenges across various industries.

Participants leveraged cutting-edge Databricks Mosaic AI technologies, including Model Serving,Vector Search, Databricks Notebooks, and Databricks Apps, to create innovative solutions. The entries were evaluated based on their technical excellence, creativity, and potential impact on their respective industries.

While all submissions demonstrated remarkable ingenuity, three teams per region stood out for their exceptional approach to addressing real-world GenAI challenges. We are excited to present the winners of the Generative AI World Cup:

Grand Prize and EMEA’s Winner 🏆: Exyte

Exyte is a global leader in designing, engineering, and constructing high-tech facilities and specializes in semiconductor, life sciences, and data center industries.

ReguBEAM AI is a generative AI-powered compliance assistant that revolutionizes regulatory verification and building design compliance. By leveraging BIM models and regulatory documents, ReguBEAM AI streamlines building code checks, reducing time, costs, and human error.

ReguBIM AI is built on Databricks' scalable architecture, utilizing a medallion pattern for efficient data management. The system automates data processing through ETL pipelines triggered by file arrivals, transforming both BIM models and regulatory documents from raw data to analysis-ready formats. The application is deployed as a Databricks App, leveraging Databricks' serverless infrastructure.

APJ’s Winner 🏆: AITHENA

AITHENA is a startup, based in Singapore and focused on AI development.

 This team addresses the challenge of efficient legal case research for lawyers. Traditional methods and existing tools are time-consuming and lack nuance. The solution is a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline created by leveraging MLflow, Unity Catalog, Vector Search and the full Databricks Data Intelligence Platform designed for the legal domain. It performs legal reasoning and retrieval across multiple semantic levels, capturing the complexities of legal language and context. The approach grounds responses in case data, reducing the risk of AI hallucinations and improving research efficiency.

Americas Winner 🏆: Greenlight BioScience

GreenLight Biosciences, develops creates eco-friendly crop protection products and explores RNA applications for vaccines and therapeutics. 

AgBiotech companies are developing novel biocontrol agents like Calantha but face challenges in image processing for screening. Greenlight BioScience leverages Databricks Apps to create AdaptiveFilters. AdaptiveFilters is an image processing agent that leverages Databricks’ GenAI capabilities to streamline this process by creating automated image processing pipelines based on user input, potentially accelerating biocontrol agent development and reducing manual analysis time.
