Collecting, analyzing, and acting on proprietary data is critical for companies to achieve a competitive edge in customer experience. But it can be a challenge to collect this data in real-time, create a single source of truth for customer data, and derive actionable insights from that first-party data. That’s why today, Databricks Ventures is excited to announce our investment in Snowplow as we expand our strategic partnership. Snowplow's advanced, flexible data platform enables its users to create and act on first-party customer behavioral data at scale – all while directly leveraging the customer’s Lakehouse. This investment marks the next step in the relationship between Databricks and Snowplow as we enter our second year of partnering together.
Why Snowplow
Snowplow - like Databricks - originated as a successful, popular open source project. As Snowplow evolved its platform, it became the leading solution for collecting and managing proprietary, first-party customer data. Importantly, Snowplow has been at the forefront of the Composable Customer Data Platform (CDP) trend - whereby customers can eliminate data silos and create a single source of truth for proprietary customer data by integrating Snowplow and the Databricks Lakehouse. And the power of this partnership is why sophisticated enterprises like the luxury global fashion brand Burberry use Snowplow and Databricks together to enable advanced customer analytics and enhance the quality of the customer experience.
What’s Next
Our investment in Snowplow solidifies our relationship and unlocks deeper go-to-market alignment and product integration. Snowplow has integrated with Unity Catalog, Databricks’ governance layer for all data assets in the Lakehouse, underscoring both companies’ focus on compliance, privacy and governance as our joint customers adopt the Composable CDP architecture. Snowplow’s upcoming support for Partner Connect will make it easy for Databricks customers looking for a behavioral data platform to quickly find and enable the Snowplow cloud-native offering. We are also opening up new use cases together, like data cleanrooms - to help brands and their advertising partners share data in a secure, privacy-compliant manner - all while leveraging the capabilities of the Lakehouse.
We look forward to continuing to work closely with Snowplow as we unlock the power of behavioral data in the Lakehouse and drive adoption of the Composable CDP. Come see us both at Data + AI Summit in San Francisco later this month - where Snowplow will be describing firsthand how companies can benefit from using Databricks and Snowplow together.
