Data teams understand firsthand how time-consuming it can be to prepare data in a way that’s valuable to their organizations. For example, data scientists frequently spend more time on data prep than they do actually building, training, selecting, and deploying models. Further, the predominant need to use code to perform data ingestion and data prep hinders non-technical users from being able to transform raw data to make it analytics-ready. This reality is why so many enterprises turn to solutions such as Matillion to unlock productivity among their data teams.

Today, we are excited to announce Databricks Ventures’ investment in Matillion, a leader in cloud data productivity specializing in low-code/no-code ETL. With Matillion’s GUI-based ETL environment, Databricks users have a choice in how they build their pipelines to bring in operational data sources, SaaS applications, legacy data warehouse insights, and more into their lakehouse for a unified dataset that is ready for analytics and AI. Matillion already seamlessly integrates with Databricks, helping joint customers connect their various data sources to the Databricks Lakehouse and build pipelines and workflows – all in a low-code/no-code environment. This investment deepens our relationship and builds on the momentum we’ve been driving all year.

Earlier this year, we announced the launch of Matillion ETL for Databricks Partner Connect to allow customers to bring business-critical data from applications, files, and databases into the Databricks Lakehouse Platform without any pre-configuration. Databricks Partner Connect, which provides customers with a one-stop portal for discovering and connecting validated data, analytics, and AI tools, enables customers across industries to easily sign up for a free trial of Matillion ETL to quickly experience the productivity gains Matillion offers. Customers can already use Matillion ETL for Databricks Partner Connect to quickly and easily ingest data at speed and scale using a native integration with Delta Lake, the open format that is the foundation of the Databricks Lakehouse Platform.

At Databricks, we believe in the importance of making our customers’ lives easier and their data teams more successful. That is why we plan to continue investing in partners such as Matillion who increase our customers’ productivity and help them get more out of the Databricks Lakehouse Platform.

We are excited for our deepening partnership with Matillion, which provides our customers with productivity-enhancing tools for the Lakehouse, and we will continue to look for more ways to work even more closely with Matillion. Customers can expect Matillion Data Loader, which allows for a fast, no-code/low-code way to load data onto their Lakehouse platform. Keep an eye out for more announcements in the coming months!
