At Databricks, our customer obsession continues to fuel our innovation and product roadmap, and we've been rapidly expanding our Data Intelligence Platform to truly democratize Data + AI. In addition to being named a Leader, we're thrilled to advance in both in Completeness of Vision and the Ability to Execute.

Below are some of the biggest strengths of the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform, which we believe contributed to our placement in the Gartner Magic Quadrant.

Democratizing Data + AI across your entire organization

Databricks pioneered the concept of the lakehouse to combine and unify the best of data warehouses and data lakes. Databricks made this vision a reality in 2020; since then, it has seen tremendous adoption as a category. Today, 74% of global CIOs report having a lakehouse in their estate, and almost all of the remainder intend to have one within the next three years.

However, while lakehouse adoption has become a force in the market, our industry is innovating at an unprecedented rate, and there's been another rapidly rising technology called Generative AI. You might be familiar with the MosaicML acquisition Databricks executed recently. We combined these two technologies to create a new category to truly democratize data and AI. We call this the Data Intelligence Platform (DI Platform), an AI-powered evolution of Databricks that opens up a whole new world of possibilities to democratize data and AI across an organization at a scale never before realized.

From ETL to data warehousing to generative AI, Databricks helps many of our customers across the globe to simplify and accelerate their data and AI goals. We have over 10,000 global customers across all industries building amazing solutions and delivering business impact with the lakehouse architecture.

Now more than ever, leaders want to leverage data and AI to transform their businesses. But, most organizations struggle because their environments are too complex. These challenges include data silos with a different approach to security and governance, data privacy and security limitations with AI, and technical skilling barriers.

We built the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform to allow every employee in every organization to find success with data and AI. The Data Intelligence Engine at the heart of the platform understands the semantics of your data and how it flows across all of your workloads. This allows for new methods of optimization, as well as for technical and non-technical users to use natural language to discover and use data and AI in the context of your business.

Governance, security, and regulatory compliance are critical to any data-driven organization because they help guarantee that all data assets are maintained and managed securely across the enterprise. Within our platform, Databricks Unity Catalog is the industry's first unified governance solution for data and AI. With Unity Catalog, organizations can seamlessly govern their structured and unstructured data, machine learning models, notebooks, dashboards, files, and federated databases on any cloud or platform. Data scientists, analysts and engineers can use Unity Catalog to securely discover, access and collaborate on trusted data and AI assets, leveraging AI to boost productivity and unlock the full potential of the lakehouse environment. This unified approach to governance accelerates data and AI initiatives while ensuring compliance in a simplified manner.

In data warehousing, Databricks SQL (DB SQL) is a serverless data warehouse that lets you run all your SQL and BI applications at scale with up to 12x better price/performance, a unified governance model, open formats and APIs, and your tools of choice – no lock-in. Since the inception of Databricks SQL two years ago, thousands of customers have migrated from legacy or cloud data warehouses to it. They have observed best-in-class performance/cost for their data warehousing workloads, together with unified governance and AI capabilities that the data warehouses lacked.

Additionally, data sharing has become even more important in the digital economy as enterprises want to easily and securely exchange data, AI models, apps, and solutions with their customers, partners, suppliers, and internal teams in a unified way to better collaborate and unlock value from that data. To enable this without limitations and lock-in, Delta Sharing offers collaboration and privacy-safe sharing with an open solution to securely share live data from your lakehouse to any computing platform, and with Databricks Marketplace we provide and open ecosystem for massive reach.

What's next

We believe our recognition as a Leader for a third consecutive year and our positioning both Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute is a testament to Databrick's success and our ability to bring together data teams and enable them to create the next generation of data and AI applications with quality, speed, and agility. We believe that AI will continue to transform data platforms and we thank our customers and partners for being on this journey with us.
